Summer Science Internships Available in Austria and Indiana

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology is now accepting applications for the 2010 Intercampus Student Internship Research Program. There are four internships available for the summer semester, including two positions of six weeks each at Indiana University School of Medicine-Northwest, in Gary, Indiana; and two positions of six weeks each at the Medical University of Graz in Graz, Austria.

Designed to provide opportunities for hands-on research and practical experience, the internship program is a partnership between the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, Indiana University School of Medicine-Northwest, and the Medical University of Graz. Last year, the internship program was expanded to include two positions at the Medical University of Graz. Students chosen for the positions in Austria will assist a surgical transplant team in the hospital, the operating room, and in on-going research projects.

To apply, simply download a PDF copy of the 2010 Intercampus Student Internship Research Program application.

All application materials must be received by the Nova Southeastern University internship committee no later than Friday, December 11, 2009. Along with the application, students must submit an official university transcript and three letters of recommendation, including two from faculty members in basic sciences. Qualifying students will be interviewed by the committee in January 2010 and by the respective programs, either by phone (for Indiana) or in person (for Austria) in February 2010. Students who are awarded a summer internship position will be notified by April 1, 2010.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of the program’s committee in the Division of Math, Science, and Technology: Mark Jaffe, D.P.M., associate professor; Robin Sherman, Ph.D., associate professor; or Deanne Roopnarine, D.P.M., assistant professor.
